Privacy Policy
What Information Do We Collect? When you visit our website, you may provide us with two types of information: personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected on an individual basis and website use information collected on an aggregate basis as you and others browse our website.
Personal Information You Choose to Provide We may request that you voluntarily supply us with personal information, including your email address, postal address, and home or work telephone number for such purposes as correspondence. If you choose to correspond with us through email, we may retain the content of your email messages together with your email address and our responses. We provide the same protections for these electronic communications that we use in the maintenance of information received by mail and telephone.
Website Use Information Unlike most other websites, our site does not use “cookies” to track you. However, if you attend an event through Zoom or some other hosting portal, or purchase tickets for an event through a ticket company, they may use cookies, and we may receive your contact information through them. We may use web server logs to collect information about how our website is used. Information gathered through server logs may include the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, and the time spent at our website. This information is collected on only an aggregate basis. None of this information is associated with you as an individual. For information collected through third parties, like Zoom or Ticketing companies, we do not sell your information and we do not use it to send you email without your permission, except as set forth in the paragraph directly below.
How Do We Use the Information That You Provide to Us? Broadly speaking, we use personal information for purposes of administering our business activities and providing service and support to our customers and prospective customers. Occasionally, we may also use the information we collect to notify you about important changes to our website, new services, special events, or offers, and our annual appeal or other fundraising requests (which are not more than 4 times per year), that we think you may find valuable. The lists used to send you any information are developed and managed under our traditional standards designed to safeguard the security and privacy of all personal information provided by our users. You may at any time notify us of your desire not to receive any further communication from us.
How Do We Secure Information Transmissions? Because we collect no personal information, we do not need as much security as some websites do. If you donate to us through a link on our website, the linked company may collect personal information, and your information usage and tracking is covered by that linked website. Other email that you may send to us may not be secure unless we advise you that security measures will be in place prior to your transmitting the information. For that reason, we ask that you do not send confidential information such as Social Security, credit card, or account, numbers to us through an unsecured email. However, we do keep a level of security such that we do not allow others to use it in an attempt to imply that they are us sending out information.
How Do We Protect Your Information? Periodically, our operations and business practices are reviewed for compliance with organization policies and procedures governing the security, confidentiality, and quality of our information based upon the information we might receive through the website. Further, our organization’s values, ethical standards, policies, and practices are generally committed to the protection of user information. So our business practices limit access to any confidential information only to those people who need to know. Further, as stated above, we do not really collect any identifiable personal information on our website, although some may be collected through affiliated sites (like Patreon, GiveLively, PayPal, or Ticket sales sites).
How Can You Access and Correct Your Information? You may request access to all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain in our database by emailing us and personally requesting such information.
Do We Disclose Information to Outside Parties? We do not share any information with any outside parties, with the exception of VIA Productions if it is specifically for an event you have signed up for and that VIA is producing. However, especially if you attend one of the events we promote, and especially if you are not within the United States, we strongly recommend that you review the privacy policy of Zoom or whatever other vendor(s) through which tickets may be sold and the presentation is happening, to review their privacy policies as we have no control over those vendors.
What About Legally Compelled Disclosure of Information? We may disclose information when legally compelled to do so, in other words, when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires it or for the protection of our legal rights. However, again, because we collect no personal information through our website, there would not be much to be able to disclose even if it was legally required.
